Time For The Demon Child To Come Play

By Tenna Kortly

The truth is I am not one to play these games, and I found it a bit too creepy playing a six-year-old kid who, by the way, look sinister as hell (no pound intended) that runs around and kills people because his devil father, said so, and so he can get telekinesis powers.

So just to make sure you got what i said, I am not by any means the usual player of the genre and i mostly played the game for the sake of this review hoping to help the people who are thinking about getting the game know more about what they are getting into.

Ok so after where done with proclaiming what I'm not and why I'm writing this lets begin with the game, Lucius starts with a cinematic when you see yourself (don't worry without the icky parts) born, and at the same time a deal with the devil is made, and up into your little innocent baby body crawls a demon spawn as the cinematic is down we find ourselves in the 6 year birthday of Little lucios, which by the way, has a scary ass face, on this day the devil approach Lluciuos and command him to kill.

You kill your nanny by locking her in a giant freezer. The entire games revolve around the fact that you are an innocent young boy so as you plot away on how to kill people, you still need to go and brush your teeth before you go to bed and sleep by ten.

Any puzzle needs the pieces to fit and in Lucius its not different as you go around killing people you need to maintain the little innocent boy act and therefor you will need to orchestrate the killing and make people die without you being there, however as you progress in the game you will also get some demonic powers to help you out.

Every kill you execute correctly will make you stronger, at the start you will have only telekinesis, but after a while you can start throwing fireballs on people.

Let's talk about the graphics, the graphics of the game are truly high level I do not mean call of duty or anything like that; nonetheless, it is still impressive, and as I believe it is as it should be the mansion is full of details and little things you can interact with like glasses, cups, cabinets, keys, locks and crucifixes that you need to be turned upside down if you do not want to lose your demon powers.

I always thought of horror type games as somewhat movie like games and it is the atmosphere in the game that should be terrifying, however i found the cutscenes just being to annoying, but then again it might just be me.

The highly level of details also come be and hurts the game in terms of long loading times as you move around the mansion, which can really annoy at times.

A disappointing fact about playing Lucius is that the murders or otherwise said the puzzles have only one way of being solved, and you can only move from a to b, in other words. They invested a lot in the game details, but when it came down to give us options of killing our marks, they left us with one possible way.

The game has a tendency to annoy me because the lack of in game clues and the fact that I can only perform my murder in one way.

Last words about the game, developed by Shiver Games, which overall did a nice job, and although I didn't enjoy this game so much, a fan of horror games will probably enjoy plotting all those murders.
