Which Laptop is Best for Graphic Designing?

By Shannon Hilson

Since specialized laptops came out, everyone is making most out of them by utilizing them for their specific needs accordingly. This has also hard-pressed the people to become competent in their respective areas as well in running such high ended gadgets.

The reason behind this is that although other brands namely Toshiba, Lenovo, IBM are good as well. But these manufacturing companies are more oriented towards large business uses as compared to home uses. In other words they think less about the small businesses or other consumers.

On the other hand, Dell and Apple work for both the small and large business including home users additionally. Even though you get to hear about different problems that the users of Dell and Apple encounter but the problems are not limited to these two only, almost all laptops (from every company) show errors time to time.

The most important thing to consider is the screen size of the laptop. Do not go for small sized notebooks because their screen size is very small usually 13inches which is probably not the one to be used by a graphic designer. So check the screens and take screen tests as well. Through this you can you will be able know the perfect resolution. Explore different programs while testing such as photo-shop and photo editors.

One additional factor is the graphic card which is entailed for the fine graphic designing. Both the Dell and Apple laptops have inbuilt dedicated graphic cards. Since the other laptops usually lack this feature and have low memory in the card due to which when it works it pull the stuff from the processor and hence slow down the whole system. In comparison to this, the dedicated card has its own memory and do not use the memory from the processor and therefore prevents it to become slow.

Moving on the size of RAM of laptop, it is recommended to get a big sized RAM starting from 2GB to 4GB. If your work involves 3D editing and calculative designing then 3 to 4 GB RAM is appropriate. Otherwise you can still manage to work with 2 GB RAM which will be updated later. The memory update requires you to pay some extra dollars ($50). The Dell laptop comes with 3 GB RAM and Apple laptop is equipped with 2GB.

Most of laptops by different brands are powered by Intel Celeron processor and some models of Dell also have Intel Celeron. But do not go this because it makes the whole system to work slow as things are added into this. The Intel Core processor is the preferred one that has astonishingly fast as it has 2.6 GHz.

The Dell studio XPS 16 is an additional name in the list which is a new release. This laptop is loaded with super fast ATI graphic card that promises to supply high ended quality for graphic design in particular. If you want to do 3D photo/video editing then this laptop can be upgraded to have more memory let say 16GB or more. It comes with only 3GB in built memory which is an adequate amount for running medium sized graphic programs. We can understand that a graphic designer needs everything at one place as well as to come up with something extraordinary. Thus this laptop is a complete studio where you can do almost everything such as creating new designs, making calculation programming and most of all you can edit photos with all essential tools. The Dell studio XPS 16 is powered by Intel Core processor (i5 and i7).
