Battlestar Galactica, which has been around since 1978 is an American science fiction franchise that began as an original television series created by Glen A. Larson followed by another TV series in 1980 that was broadcast as a sequel. In 2003 it was resurrected and remade into various mini-series that have been developed throughout the years up to the present.
Various types of entertainment have grown along with the Battlestar Galactica television productions to include things such as book adaptations, board games, novels, video games as well as comic books. The foundation of the story for all the various forms of entertainment productions centers around the basis that a group of planets called the Twelve Colonies exist in a distant part of our galaxy and are inhabited by a human civilization. A cybernetic race of beings known as Cylons have been attempting to exterminate the human race, including these people who migrated from the ancestral world of Kobol and have been at war for decades with these people who now reside on what is referred to as the Twelve Colonies.
A human by the name of Baltar helps the Cylons carry out a massive attack on the Twelve Colonies. This attack demolished the twelve colonies as well as the Colonial Fleet of star ships which serve as their protection, destroying virtually their entire population. The few struggling survivors flee into outer space aboard a few scattered available spaceships. The Battlestar Galactica was the one remaining piece of the entire Colonial battle fleet that was not eliminated, which luckily happened to be huge battleship and spacecraft carrier similar to the aircraft carries that we are familiar with today.
As the story continues to unfold, under the leadership of Commander Adama, the massive spacecraft carrier along with the pilots who acted as Viper fighters guide the search party made up of the fugitive fleet of survivors in an attempt to find the fabled colony known as Earth, which is actually the thirteenth colony. Players assume the roles of characters either on the Cylon or Human side during the adventures of Battlestar Galactica to join in the challenging scenarios of the various plots to be developed in the game.
Players can easily become immersed in the exciting universe, interacting with their favorite characters, completing challenging missions, commandeering fighter ships and participating in action packed tactical space combat. All of this taking place with a large variety of offensive as well as defensive systems to assist in the battle between the Humans and Cylon forces as the civilian ships set out to search for the legendary home of the Thirteenth Tribe of Man aka Earth.
