Rhythm Heaven Almost Like Tapping to the Beat

By Paul Adler

If you like a good musical game, then you are going to love Rhythm Heaven. It's not one that you would think of as a hit, but on the other hand, everyone isn't into blood and gore. Some of us like an interesting game that challenges us without going ott. Like we revealed, this is a music game. Did we mention it was a little special, bordering on weird? If not, you will soon find out when you begin to play. This game was made for the Nintendo DS and is made to be played utilizing the stylus.

The Nintendo DS system is probably one of the hottest gaming transportables. With its interactive games, young and old all have found a standard denominator in this system. If you enjoy a fun game at home or away, this game and handheld system are a great mixture for you. The premise of Rhythm Heaven is to match the beat of the scene being played out on the screen. 1/2 your screen is the game and the other half is blank for players to touch with their stylus. In each level or stage, you?ll see wild and extraordinary scenes with black and white characters, colourful animals and little men with spears doing a cool dance. The graphics alone are worth trying to see if you are up to the job of making the right rhythm.

If you can not dance, this game could be a serious challenge , but an enjoyable challenge. Hold your DS sideways like a book and imitate what the characters are doing. You'll have to tap with your stylus if the character is hitting in the scene. Flicking could be in order if you're on a level where they're playing ping-pong. Use your stylus to imitate flicking to the beat on the touch sensitive screen. Whatever the character does, you have to tap, flick, hold or slide when they do it.

The game sounds simple but it gets increasingly harder as you go from level to level. Also , in the great practice of most video games, there are mini-games and other challenges that can unlock surprises for game players. Your rhythms are rated at the end of the stage. It's similar to Guitar Hero where they rate how well you kept up with the music. If you're truly great you get a gong and can unlock the subsequent stage. If you're not deserving, you must begin again. The game is so addictive you simply need to play continually until your rhythm is first class. Even if you are mediocre, you get to open a higher level but without a gong which is what you need to be well placed to claim later rewards.

Rhythm Heaven tests you in ways which are different to other games but also fun. The game is rated E for everybody so the whole family can rock out to the beat.
