Computers And Steps To Take When Installing A New Graphics Card

By Musa Aykac

If you have decided to upgrade your computer so that you can play computer games you will probably be installing a new graphics card. Here are some of the things you will need to do in order to make this installation.

- When it comes to installing a new graphics card you will have to make sure that you uninstall the drivers for your old graphics card first.

- You will next want to shut down your computer. After your computer has shut down, you should unplug the computer completely.

- In order to be able to see what you are doing, you should remove all the cables from the rear of the computer. Remove the PCI Express cables. You have to be able to see the motherboard.

- Take out the old graphics card. Do not discard this card as you may be able to use it again some time in the future. You will have to be careful when you put it away so that you don't damage it or you won't be able to use it again.

- It is easier if you attach the PCI power cables to the new card before installing it so you should do this.

- Position the new card and then plug in all the cables again.

- When everything is in the right place, you can then power up the computer to see if everything is working properly. If you have done everything right then you will be able to get the most out of your new graphics card.

It is not difficult to install a graphics card provided you follow the instructions. It is never a good idea to try to do this while the computer is still plugged in because of the risk of electrocution. Unplugging is no great hardship and so you should always make sure you take this simple step.
